Hello friends! Welcome to Kinda Veggie, a space to explore the world of plant-based eating.
Let me share about the inspiration behind Kinda Veggie!
I’m Sarah, and I’m so glad we found each other! This blog is for the plant-curious who aren’t quite ready to make a full commitment, and for those who don’t want to put a label on the way they eat.
I love flavor, and I’m excited to share realistic meal plans and easy-to-follow recipes for the kinda veggie, kinda curious, and kinda busy human. I’ll also be sharing my insights on tips, tricks, news and personal experiences from my journey of living mostly plant-based.
About My Plant-Based Journey
My plant-based journey began in October 2024. At the time, I wasn’t looking to give up animal products completely, but I had been dealing with various health issues and had just finished reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. This book made me reflect on factory farming and how our food is cultivated and treated before it reaches our grocery shelves.
Initially, I thought I’d try sourcing meat from local farms that prioritize sustainable and ethical practices. But then I watched Forks Over Knives and started diving into T. Colin Campbell’s research and Nutrition Studies. The documented connections between animal products, cancer, and other chronic diseases made me reconsider animal products as part of my daily diet. So, in September 2024, I cleaned out my refrigerator and freezer of all animal products, and on October 1st, I officially began my plant-based journey.
At first, I felt completely overwhelmed.
I was unsure of what I should or shouldn’t eat. Questions ran through my mind about plant-based eating:
How much processed food is too much?
How do I avoid eggs and milk when I’m dining out?
Do I have time to make everything from scratch?
How will I handle social situations with friends and family?
The questions were endless.

I quickly learned eating at home was easy and fun. I’m constantly working to find a balance between scratch-made and store-bought meals, aiming to minimize processed foods while being realistic about my time and lifestyle. Navigating restaurants and social settings is still a challenge, which is where being “Kinda Veggie” gives me the flexibility I sometimes need.
I am excited to share my recipes and insights into this new way of life that we can navigate together. I also love to travel and spend time outdoors, so I’ll be sharing how I stay Kinda Veggie while living a busy, active life.
Thanks for being here!
